[There are no radio stations in the database]

James Pearson

From an early age I loved everything media related – and was obsessed with radio…

I was fascinated as to how a little electronic portable box was able to play such a wide array of music, how the friendly presenters seemingly spoke directly to me and how it was so easy to interact with them. Radio how it used to be.

Clearly a radio presenter was going to be my career path of choice…alas – ultimately this was not to be.

Like many aspiring presenters, I ‘cut my teeth’ at a hospital radio station. I volunteered at Hospital Radio Fox in Leicester, which back in the day broadcast from a converted portacabin in the grounds of the Leicester Royal Infirmary!

In the early 90s, I was a familiar voice across the Midlands on BBC and commercial radio stations reporting on traffic and travel for AA Roadwatch. I was an evening presenter on Buzz FM Birmingham, then worked at Coventry radio station Kix96. I could also be seen on several community TV stations operated by local Cable TV companies in Leicester, Dudley and Telford.

I then switched gears away from presentation to concentrate on technologies powering the media industry. Since then I’ve never looked back (well, maybe occasionally) and have since been privileged to work with some of the biggest media organizations both in the UK and North America.

I’ve now dusted off my huge music collection and am thrilled to share my passion for radio as part of the presentation team here at Solid Gold GEM AM
